Justin Bieber Gives $500,000

The pop phenom also skated with the NHL's Maple Leafs, visited a local food bank and performed at Massey Hall for a Christmas TV special to air on MuchMusic and CTV.

TORONTO – Canada’s Justin Bieber came home for the holidays Wednesday night, and gave the local Children’s Wish Foundation a giant cardboard check for $500,000 after performing a charity fund-raising concert in Toronto.
The concert, taped for a Christmas TV special, Justin Bieber: Home For The Holidays, to air on MuchMusic and CTV Thursday night, was one hour late in starting at the historic Massey Hall.
But the delay was in part because the Stratford, Ontario native spent time backstage with three young fans – Jalissa, 10 years-old, Jake, 8 years-old and Harvey, 16 years – each of whom have been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and asked to meet the global pop phenom.
The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada was selected by Bieber as the Canadian charity of choice for his Believe Charity Drive, and will receive proceeds from the sale of his latest album, Under the Mistletoe, and his Wednesday night concert.
Then it was just Bieber and his guitar accompanist Dan Kanteron stage for nearly two hours as Toronto was gripped with Bieber Fever Wednesday.
They performed hit songs like “Mistletoe” and “Baby”, and Christmas cover songs and classics, in front a few thousand shrieking Beliebers.
Earlier in the day, Bieber showed off his hockey skills while skating with members of the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Center, and he dropped by the Daily Bread Food Bank to make a donation.
While on stage Wednesday night, Bieber told his hometown audience that he had just performed in the U.S., South America, Europe and South East Asia, and been treated well wherever he went.
“But it doesn’t’ compare to Toronto. It means the world to me to perform for you, more so here than anywhere else,” he told the Massey Hall audience.
